Maynila Ballroom

“Dancing at the Maynila” opened to VIPs, hotel patrons, and dancing enthusiasts today, signalling the start of a series of ballroom dancing events to be held at the iconic Maynila Ballroom of the Manila Hotel. Some 200 guests in their black-and-white best celebrated the best of ballroom, spinning their partners across the floor to the music of the Onda Latina ensemble amidst the grandeur and elegance of the storied hall.

“Ballroom dancing is actually both an art form and a dance sport – beautiful to behold in the strength and grace it exhibits. Beyond dance and sport, ballroom dancing is also about courtesy, class and culture,” said Manila Hotel president Atty. Joey Lina. “This is what “Dancing at the Maynila” brings to you at the grandest venue there is.”

Only the Maynila Ballroom can bring back the turn-of-the-century glamour that sets the stage for the art that is ballroom. It is the only multi-levelled ballroom in the country that offers an ambiance of sophistication from its imposing staircase, hand-painted ceiling and massive capiz shell chandelier framed gracefully by an Arabesque canopy to its five-meter high hand-carved narra arches, multi-colored Tiffany bay windows and indoor water fountains .

“The Maynila Ballroom has been home to some of Manila’s grandest events,” Atty. Lina adds. Ballroom dancing is more than just dancing. It is the most joyful experience you can have in a tux or in an evening gown. There is no better place to reacquaint yourself with the boogie or lose yourself in a sultry Argentinean tango. Celebrate the class, sophistication and culture that is truly the Manila Hotel. Together, let us bring back the glory of the Grand Dame.”
