Pangasinan is Hosting Palarong Pambansa

Palarong Pambansa 2012 is fast approaching, that is on May 6-12, 2012 , sports teams from regions all over the Philippines gear up as it  draws nearer. With less a week left before the Palaro, the teams and participants are exposed to rigorous trainings and preparations in various sports events. Thus, the competition heats up as the regions are set to snatch the over-all championship title from the National Capital Region (NCR).

The biggest national sporting event will open on May 7 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Pangasinan. President Benigno Aquino III will grace the occasion.

This year’s Palarong Pambansa will feature athletics, arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics (women’s artistic gymnastics, men’s artistic gymnastic and rhythmic gymnastics), sipa takraw, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball.

There is also goalball, aquatics, bocce, long jump, shot put and 100, 200, and 400 meter dash for the differently-abled student athletes.

The 2012 Palarong Pambansa is brewing to be exciting and interesting as other regions prepare to wrest the crown from NCR, set new records and gain honors for their respective regions. The venue also is ready for real time updates and people can be more sharable in terms of online communication because the whole place will have an access to internet.

In  an effort to spur interest among Filipinos regarding the Palarong Pambansa 2012, the host province Pangasinan with the support from Department of Education (DepEd) has activated a website (http://www.palarongpambansa2012.com/) specifically for the upcoming event.

This will be the first time   a website for the annual Palaro was launched  which will be attended by some 10,000 student athletes in different sporting categories.The website will post updates regarding each event and corresponding venues, including a photo gallery featuring the athletes.

The department will activate online video streaming for some of the sports, with some of the video clips to be kept online for replays.
